Although I did not grow up on a farm, I was always meant to become a farmer! I grew up in Canton, MI not knowing anything about farm life ,but loving the outdoors. After school and on weekends I’d spend time tramping through the woods, catching turtles and wading through the creek near my house. I’m deeply passionate about the environment and wanted to create something positive for the land, community and myself.
Shortly after graduating from CMU, I decided to give farming a real try. I had an intense few years gaining experience small farming. I spent a summer WWOOFing in France, then working for two seasons as a farm apprentice, working as a farmer and AmeriCorps volunteer with The Greening of Detroit, and completing the Organic Farmer Training Program at MSU.
In 2010, Andrew and I bought the farm and got married on the porch that summer. We are entering our seventh season on the farm!
I work for Washtenaw County in Finance as a Budget Analyst. I help on the farm by keeping the books up to date, building hoop houses and generally helping out when and where I can.
