Hand Sown Farm is nestled on 10 acres, just outside of Manchester, Michigan. Our four acre certified organic market garden produces a diversity of crops including vegetables, flowers, fruit, and herbs.
We seek to grow food in a way that is healthy for the environment, the community and ourselves. We’ve found the best way to do this is to implement simple and affordable technologies combined with old fashioned growing practices.
Our organic methods focus on use of natural organic matter for fertility, relying on simple hand tools and a BCS walk-behind tiller, strategic and chemical-free pest management, encouraging biodiversity of life on the farm, applying mulch and crop rotations, and generally treating the land with respect.
